Terminate Coverage for Over-Age Dependents

When an employee’s child has reached maximum age, they may no longer be considered a benefits eligible dependent.

Note: If the dependent is disabled, the above rule will not be applicable.
Email notifications can be set up at any frequency and beginning any number of days prior to the over-age dependent’s coverage termination date. These notifications instruct employees to remove the affected dependent from coverage. The message also indicates that the affected dependent can continue coverage under COBRA, if eligible. These notifications can also be set up to be copied to the HR Administrator.
To remove the over-age dependent from the employee’s coverage, Login as an Employee and process the status change Overage Dependent.
This change in coverage can also be made as an Administrative Exception
  1. Enter the Change Effective Date.
  2. Remove the over-age dependents from all plans for which they are ineligible by unchecking the check box by their name.
  3. Enter the Change Reason as Overage Dependent.
  4.  Click Submit.
